Susanna Gartler

Susanna is a PHD candidate at the department of anthropology of the University of Vienna. She is interested in the topics of re-indigenization, the extractive industry, indigenous cultural centers and planning, sustainability, climate change and social aspects of permafrost thaw. She is a collaborator in the project LACE – ‘Labour Mobility and Community Participation in the Extractive Industry. Case study in the Canadian North’ as well as in Nunataryuk. Her research within Nunataryuk relates directly to the goals of LICCI, identifying social indicators of climate change, as well as risks associated with permafrost thaw and adaptation & equitable mitigation strategies in the Beaufort Sea Delta (Northern Canada).
