Sara Miñarro (PhD in Marine Ecology, 2017, Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research, University of Bremen, Germany) is a postdoctoral research fellow funded by the BIGSEA* project at ICTA-UAB. Strongly dedicated to field research, she is a certified scientific diver and has worked on a range of topics researching the effects of environmental and social changes on coastal ecosystems and small-scale fisheries. Her current project within BIGSEA is researching how market integration affects the subjective well-being and fishing behavior of small-scale fishing communities. Collaborating with the LICCI project, she aims at comparing the obtained local knowledge of changes in marine species with expectations from global estimates, and at assessing the different types of adaptations by small-scale fisheries to the effects of climate change. She will administer the data collection protocol in the Solomon Islands.
