Drew Gerkey

Drew Gerkey (Ph.D. in Anthropology, 2010, Rutgers University) is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Oregon State University. His research examines the cultural, economic, evolutionary, and political dynamics of social-ecological systems in the Arctic (Siberia & Alaska). Using a mixed-method ethnographic approach, he studies cooperation and collective action in the context of subsistence livelihoods, social networks, institutions, and environmental governance. For the LICCI project, he is collaborating with Victoria Sharakhmatova to document local observations of and adaptations to climate change on the Kamchatka Peninsula (Siberia).
